AUDITION TECHNIQUE INTENSIVE
WITH CASTING DIRECTOR MELISSA A. SMITH CASTING (CSA, CDC)

GUEST COACH MICHAEL GORDIN SHORE
Join us for a full day behind the scenes of a mock casting session where each actor will have the opportunity to work and receive adjustments, critique and feedback from casting. Actors will prepare two scenes to be performed on the day, in addition to a mock self-tape to be reviewed prior to the intensive. All participants will receive one-on-one feedback and leave with a link to their taped scenes.
This workshop will provide participants with valuable insight into the audition process with specific feedback from CD Melissa A. Smith and acting coach Michael Gordin Shore. Actors will gain useful audition techniques and learn how to impress casting directors with confidence, knowledge & preparation. The workshop also covers insight into the ever-changing landscape of auditioning, self-tape/virtual audition prep & technique and how to market yourself successfully as a performer.
CASTING DIRECTOR: MELISSA A. SMITH, CSA, CDC
Melissa A. Smith, CSA is a Canadian Casting Director with over 10 years of experience casting film and television. She is the president of Melissa A. Smith Casting Inc., a casting company based in Toronto and Northern Ontario. Her recent credits include Big Gold Brick, The Retirement Plan, Alice, Darling, You Gotta Believe, My Animal, Littlemouth, Daniel’s Gotta Die and The Baker. Melissa was named Playback Magazine's “5 To Watch” in 2016 and was the recipient of a “40 Under 40” Award in 2018. She is a proud member of the Casting Society of America (CSA) and the Casting Director Society of Canada (CDC).
GUEST COACH: MICHAEL GORDIN SHORE
With 50 years of training and real world experience on stage as well as in front of and behind the camera, Michael Gordin Shore is a Toronto based Film/TV/Theatre actor who is also dubbed by numerous press outlets “One of Canada’s Top Audition Coaches” and “One of Canada’s Most Appreciated Acting Teachers”. He is an award winning independent short film director, and co-producer of a triple award winning independent feature. Michael wears many hats in the industry, and has numerous ACTRA, CAEA, IATSE, DGC, Casting, Directing, and Producing Credits. You can watch Michael’s coaching clients in countless projects, including as the lead and namesake of the Marvel movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. That actor, Simu Liu, recently won a People’s Choice Award. With client bookings in the range of a million dollars per year, Michael has helped actors book leads in Kim’s Convenience, From, Children Ruin Everything, People of Earth, The Umbrella Academy, Blood and Water, The New Magic Schoolbus, and many others.

This is not an audition, nor an acting class. This intensive is designed to help you understand, from the casting director’s perspective, what is required to achieve a successful audition and be memorable.
